Comfort Food at Blue Collar

Artichoke Blue Collar serves food that people like to eat and they do it really well.  Chef and owner Daniel Serfer hits it out of the park in this small, diner style restaurant in the historic Mimo district of Miami. Don't be off put by the no tell motels on the boulevard. The staff accommodated our group of eight in a pre-theater rush by cranking out dishes efficiently with super friendly personal service. We didn't have time for appetizers or desserts but here's a rundown of four entrees that... Continue Reading >

Champagne Bash at The Barnacle

This is the first year we are hosting a twilight tour of the historic house with complimentary champagne and hor d'oeuvres on the front porch overlooking the bay.  If you have never seen Ralph Munroe's home, this is a fantastic opportunity for a private tour and an early look at the silent auction items that are absolutely phenomenal. What’s for Sale Under $1 Million in the Village of Pinecrest?

Debra Wellins It's getting to be slim pickings for single family homes under $1 million in Pinecrest.  As of today, 141 homes are on the market, only 41 of them under $1 million. The breakdown is in the chart on the right.  The $700,000 - $799,000 price range is the hottest market under $1 million with 15 homes for sale. Almost all of these homes are west of 72nd Ave and south of 104 St. They average 3-4 bedrooms, 2,000 -3,000 square feet and are on lots from 1/4 to 1/2 acre.  Four of... Continue Reading >

A Modern Pinecrest Family Home – True Green

9 The Haper home in Pinecrest is a modern masterpiece in environmental design and lifestyle. It is not simply that they use green materials in their home but that sustainability is their way of life. I met the Harpers while representing them in real estate transactions. David Harper is an innovative environmental architect; his wife Jennifer is experienced in LEED certification. What struck me the most about this couple was their dedication to sustainable living through architecture, energy efficiency and a healthy lifestyle. We have all been raised on the precepts of... Barnacle Visions – Special Art Exhibit in Coconut Grove

Irene Munroe Quilt Ralph Middleton Monroe, one of the founders of Coconut Grove and the builder of The Barnacle, had a daughter-in-law who was a talented frugal seamstress.  (Nowadays we would refer to her as a forward thinking recycler.) Mary Poore Monroe never threw anything away. Whenever the sheets and pillowcases tore, she finely stitched them back to life, turning them into smaller versions of themselves. When The Barnacle became a state park in 1973, Mary moved out and took the sheets with her. Years later, sons Bill and... Continue Reading >

Pinecrest Acre for Sale

Blank 3 I've got the inside track on a NE Pinecrest acre that is not yet listed for sale but available for $1.2 million.  This is a fantastic opportunity to buy this property while it's off-market. It's deep interior acre -  great for privacy - shaded by lovely oaks and palms on a quiet street with little traffic.  The lot is .93 acres or 40,712 square feet (SF). Although the property is being sold for land value, there is a comfortable 4 bedroom, 3 bath family home, with 2,312 SF of living space, including a renovated kitchen... Continue Reading >

The Gang Miami is Delish

Pork Rolls They call it "A concept of life" and I call it delish.  My gang had dinner here a few nights ago at this Asian fusion hot spot in Midtown (but where else these days). Besides absolutely loving the washing machine counter and cool vibe, the wait staff adorned lab coats inspiring in-vivo experimentation of their menu. We had a fantastic variety of small plates, my favorite being the Vietnamese Pork Rolls served with lettuce, mint and a phenomenal dipping sauce.  I would return just... Continue Reading >

Just Sold – Gorgeous Acre in Pinecrest

Front Elevation 2   I just sold this spectacular acre in the Village of Pinecrest.  The developer who purchased it will be building a beautiful contemporary home that will add tremendous value to the neighborhood. This was a challenging acre to sell.  Although located in one of the most sought after neighborhoods in Pinecrest, on a no-traffic street with beautiful majestic oaks and nice property dimensions, this acre had many site development issues that had to be resolved. moving a fire hydrant moving power lines, moving neighboring fences, boundary line issues and removal and...
